The Scottish National Investment Bank is seeking an experienced Investment Director to lead the structuring and execution of key investment transactions in support of Scotland's innovative and sustainable future. As a purpose-driven organisation, we are dedicated to creating lasting environmental, societal, and financial impacts for the people of Scotland.

In this senior role, you will be responsible for originating, structuring, and completing debt and equity investments, leading a team through complex deals that support the Bank's strategic missions. Collaborating with teams across the Bank, you'll manage due diligence, financial modelling, and risk assessment to deliver impactful investments across multiple sectors.

We are looking for a dynamic leader with significant investment experience and a passion for making a difference in Scotland's innovation landscape.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Investment Risk team and other stakeholders to quantify financial risks and assess social and environmental impacts for each investment.

  • Oversee financial modelling, risk analysis, and legal structuring for loans, equity investments, and other deal structures.

  • Mentor and guide junior team members, providing oversight and expertise in their development and investment activities.

  • Build strong relationships with Scotland's financial ecosystem, including institutional investors, banks, and industry partners to support deal flow and collaboration.

  • Ensure all investments adhere to the Bank's approval process and prepare detailed investment committee papers.

About You:

  • Degree qualified in Business, Finance, or related fields; professional qualifications (CA, CFA, or similar) are highly regarded.

  • Significant experience in investment or deal-making, with expertise in sustainable investments and/or SME transactions.

  • Familiarity with the specific market dynamics in Scotland is desirable.

  • Experience in development banking or public sector roles is highly advantageous.

  • A comprehensive understanding of ESG principles and social impact assessment is valued.

At the Scottish National Investment Bank, we offer a salary range of £101-118k, alongside a comprehensive benefits package including 30 days annual leave plus public holidays, a 12% non-contributory pension, and access to our EV Salary Sacrifice and Green Commute Cycle to Work Schemes, volunteer days, and more. We operate a hybrid working model and are open to discussing flexible working patterns.

We encourage candidates from all backgrounds to apply, even if you don't meet every requirement. If you are eligible under the Disability Confident Scheme or require any adjustments to support your application, please get in touch. We are committed to providing the necessary support to ensure you can participate fully in our recruitment process.

Join us in shaping the future of Scotland's innovation and driving forward sustainable, equitable growth.
