Job Title: In-House Counsel - Client Money Regulatory



Position Overview:


The In-House Counsel - Client Money Regulatory will be responsible for providing expert legal advice and support on all matters related to client money regulations and compliance. The role also has other more commercial elements, but it's vital we find someone with an understanding of model B custody. This role involves ensuring the company adheres to relevant financial regulations and industry standards, mitigating legal risks, and supporting regulatory audits and investigations.



Key Responsibilities:


  1. Regulatory Compliance:


    • Advise on compliance with client money regulations, including but not limited to, regulations such as FCA Client Assets Sourcebook (CASS) in the UK and broader regulations.
    • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

  2. Legal Advisory:


    • Provide legal advice on client money-related issues, including the handling, segregation, and reconciliation of client funds.
    • Review of existing contracts to ensure risk mitigation.
    • Address and resolve legal queries from internal stakeholders related to client money management and regulatory obligations.

  3. Documentation and Reporting:


    • Draft, review, and negotiate client money-related agreements and documentation.
    • Prepare and review internal reports and documentation required for regulatory submissions and audits.
    • Ensure accurate and timely reporting to regulatory bodies as required

  4. Stakeholder Engagement:


    • Liaise with external legal advisors, regulators, and industry bodies as necessary.
    • Work closely with other departments, including finance and compliance, to ensure a cohesive approach to client money management
